Egg vitrification
Oocyte vitrification consists of freezing the oocytes in a way that allows a woman's reproductive capacity to be postponed for as long as desired, thus maintaining the same chances of becoming pregnant as at the time the oocytes are vitrified.
Oocyte vitrification allows mature oocytes obtained after ovarian stimulation to be cryopreserved for later use when the patient chooses, with the same prognosis as at the time of vitrification.
Due to the absence of ice crystal formation, the survival rates of the oocytes are high, making it possible to delay childbearing with reasonable guarantees.

PROCESS
In which cases is it indicated?
Oocyte vitrification is a procedure performed in the laboratory that allows the patient’s oocytes to be preserved over time. For this purpose, they are subjected to low temperatures, which maintain their properties intact until they are thawed. This procedure is far superior to the old freezing processes, since it avoids the formation of ice crystals, which could damage the cells.
- Women who, for whatever reason, wish to postpone childbearing.
- Oncologic and non-oncologic patients who are going to receive gonadotoxic treatments.
- Women who have received repetitive ovarian surgery, as may be the case with endometriosis.
- Patients in whom we would prefer to perform the embryo transfer in a cycle other than that of follicular stimulation (risk of OHSS, appearance of polyps, hydrosalpinx or hydrometras, absence of sperm, etc).
- In patients with low response: to accumulate oocytes, or to have a sufficient number of them if the objective is to perform a PGD cycle.
